  12. I'm really reluctant to open up this can of worms as there are about a
  13. dozen threads with the same topic 'What is the Best C\C++ Compiler?'.  Or
  14. better 'What is the Best C\C++ Compiler for me?'.

  16. I'm looking for some advise on Symatec C++, Microsoft Visual C++, and
  17. Borland C++.  What I'm really looking for is possible location on the
  18. Internet or in magazines that rate these products.

  20. I haven't coded in C++ that much and haven't touched C for 2 years but was
  21. a very capable C programmer.  I want something that is fairly standard in
  22. that it uses a majority of the C++ language and that if I go from my
  23. compiler to another the transfer would be fairly easy.  I am also
  24. interested in a compiler that is used fairly universally for PC apps.  What
  25. is used to compile the code for Novell, Netscape, Microsoft, IBM, Lotus,
  26. and other PC software vendors.

  28. I have a Pentium 90 with 16 MB Ram, a 1GB hard drive, 4X CD Rom, Diamond
  29. Stealth 64 Video card, 17" monitor and a host of other things.  I am
  30. presently running Win 3.11 but if the only thing between me and the
  31. compiler I think the best for me is Win95, I will get Win95.
